Automotive infrastructure: Electric vehicle charging
Solutions for automotive infrastructure
The latest technologies for wall boxes and charging stations
With the current aim to achieve climate neutrality and sustainability within the automotive sector, the increased number of electric vehicles poses a need for more, fast, and reliably functionable charging stations in automotive infrastructures. BCD Atlantik and our partners provide the perfect network and portfolio of innovative technologies and products to develop solutions for automotive infrastructure such as wall boxes or charging stations for electric vehicles.

SOLUTIONS FOR Automotive infrastructure

INNOVATIVE WALL BOXES AND CHARGING STATIONS FOR ELECTRIC VEHICLES

As a main contributor to the production of CO₂ emissions and therefore the progression of global warming, fossil fuel-based automotive traffic and transportation have become subject to strict regulation and innovation within the next ten to twenty years. To mitigate climate change, institutions such as the International Energy Agency and the EU have presented their extensive concepts to achieve climate neutrality and sustainability within the automotive sector. By endorsing e-vehicles and encouraging innovative forms of more sustainable traffic concepts, the EU aims for a reduction of CO₂ emissions by a minimum of 55 % by 2030 and up to 90 % by 2050.

Automotive solutions applications

In addition to the (further) development of emission-efficient vehicles, and incentives for electric vehicles (EVs), the modernization of the entire traffic infrastructure also plays a central role in achieving sustainable and intelligent mobility across European traffic networks. To cater to the growing number of EVs, an extensive network of charging stations is essential. While in 2023, the EU provided more than 630,000 public charging stations for the at the time about three million EVs, this number is supposed to rise to 3.5 million charging points by 2030 to support the level of vehicle electrification. Since those numbers still exclude charging stations on private property, the potential for developing and producing charging stations for electric vehicles is considerably even larger.

BCD Atlantik can help you enter the market for innovative solutions for a more sustainable automotive infrastructure (e.g. wall boxes, charging stations) or enhance your market position, we offer you a short-time, low-risk, and cost-efficient development by re-using building blocks and our complete reference design of individual integration options.

Suitable applications for our solutions

To facilitate a convenient development for your charging station project, we provide you with the option to choose parts or a full copy of our comprehensive reference designs for both EVSE Standalone (single charging stations) as well as EVST depots (multiple charging stations using a single hub for internet / remote access).

Highly integrated leading Qualcomm technology provides tested BT, NFC, Wi-Fi, and cellular connectivity cost-effectively, and in combination with our portfolio of outdoor HMI and robust, sunlight-readable display solutions, AKM’s current sensors as well as high-voltage fuses for hazardous applications, we can individually adapt the charging stations to your requirements.

Applications: Battery management, onboard charging technology, public charging stations, wall boxes
